Privacy Policy

Seven Places (“we”, “us”) is a service for keeping and sharing your favourite places in the cities you love, at sevenplaces.app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what happens to it. The short version: we collect what the product needs to work, your recommendations are public by design unless you make your account private, and we don’t sell your data.
What we collect
Account. You sign in with Google. We receive and store your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account. We never see your Google password.
Content you create. The places you add, your one-line notes, rankings, collections, likes, follows, recommendation requests and the answers to them, and your profile handle.
Search queries. When you search for a place, your query is sent to Google’s Places API to find it. When you search for a city, the lookup happens on our own servers.
Approximate location. To show cities near you on Discover, we use the approximate location our hosting provider derives from your IP address. It is used for that page render and not stored.
Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the product is used (pages viewed, features used) and Sentry to capture errors. We use this to improve the product, not to profile you.
What is public
Seven Places is a sharing product. Your profile, your city lists, your notes, and your collections are visible to anyone with the link, and your likes are visible to people who can see the liked list. If you set your account to private, your lists are visible only to followers you approve.
Answering a friend’s recommendation request shares your list for that city (or country) with them, and the places you add become part of your own profile.
Where your data lives
Data is stored with Supabase on AWS in Frankfurt, Germany (EU), and the site runs on Vercel with server functions in the same region. Place photos come from Google’s Places API and are cached in our storage; city cover images come from Pexels; map tiles are served by OpenFreeMap, whose servers see your IP address when your browser loads a map, as is normal for any embedded map.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in (essential). Analytics may store identifiers in your browser to distinguish visits. We do not run advertising and have no ad cookies.
Your choices
You can edit or delete any place, note, collection, like, or request yourself. You can make your account private in Settings. To delete your account and all its data, email us at schwann.khaw@gmail.com and we will remove it. You can also export your lists (Google My Maps / CSV) at any time — your recommendations are yours.
Age
Seven Places is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
